NSV today...

Tuesday, March 06, 2012

So it's been a little rough lately. Not only for me but a lot of my friends here on spark. It seems as if the winter blues and the stalled weight loss has got us all down a bit. So I figured I would share a good thing that happened today.

So with all the weight loss I have an ever decreasing amount of clothing that actually fits. So first thing I did was order some clothes online. Sears was having a clearance sale (I am a bargain shopper) so I ordered some khakis for 17 bucks and some dress pants for about the same also two sweaters nothing was over 17 bucks lol. So I got them yesterday and tried them on this morning. They fit really well. I was a little nervous. Because I ordered them a size smaller then I thought I needed. I was buying 42/30 pants but those weren't staying up any more. So these that I ordered and some jeans I bought at target were 40/30. To my delight they fit perfect emoticon When I started I was a 52/30 I have dropped over a foot in the waist and that feels good. Actually the pants are a little loose in the waist but I have big thighs so I always have to find loose fit jeans or go up a size in the waist. Feels good!! My target is a 36/30 I have two pair I found at marshall's that are waiting for me to fit into lol.

So I try on the sweaters. At my heaviest I was up to a 4XL I usually bought XLT's because I have short legs and a longer torso (I have an extra vertebrae and set of ribs lol). So anyway again most of the stuff I have was xxl or 2x stuff which has been fitting big so I ordered XL's they fit too!!!

I was like ok this must be a fluke. So over lunch I go to my favorite department store.. It was my favorite because at the time it was the only one that really had a good big &tall selection lol. Well this time I don't even go near the Big & Tall section and head over to one the labels area. Well I hit the clearance rack and they have a bunch of fall stuff on clearance that will be perfect for my trip and for general use because I am always cold so I usually where long sleeves in Texas summers because my office is frigid. So anyway I have to resit the urge to look for the XXL's and I pick up a couple XL to see if this really is "MY" size... to my surprise and elation it all fit...

So even though I was kinda in the dumps last week about how I have been doing and how my weight loss has crawled along. This made me realize that I am still changing. I am still on the right path and what I am doing IS WORKING. So I am very proud of that. It was funny the guy at the store is helping me look and he holds up an XXL and he is like yeah that is too big for you. That felt good.

So to my spark friends who may feel stuck right now. Korina, Sohl, Ken, Helene, JDeleon, Courtney, Russell, Holly and anyone else who may just feel stuck or like giving up or like they are losing their momentum. Sometimes our bodies change differently at different times. All we can do is keep practicing all the things we learn here and apply them the best way we can. Even when we feel down or about to give up we have to remember we can be our own toughest critics. We look in the mirror and see the flaws we still have. While others may look at us and see all the greatness we have already accomplished. We have to see that greatness in ourselves. The fact that we are here and supporting each other through this is awesome and we need to build on that and continue it. I want to thank everyone for all the support last week. It meant sooo much!!! We all are doing great and sometime we need to be reminded of that.

Love you guys!!!

Thanks SIMPLY-MJ for enlightening me. An NSV sounds as important as an "SV" - sometimes maybe more so .

Pardon my not knowing, but I had to read this blog if only to find out what NSV means - and I still don't know!
Anyway, I'm glad you are having such wonderful clothing choices now - you've earned them :)
Btw I've been dealing with some depression lately and it will suck the life out of a person if you let it. Thank heaven for friends, virtual and otherwise. Thank you for sharing.

I find some weeks where I don't seem to lose much/any are the weeks I notice the fit of my pants/etc getting looser. NSV are sometimes what pulls us through the rougher patches. emoticon

How exciting!! You have accomplished so much and it's exciting that it is showing in other ways besides the scale! Enjoy your temporary size because before you know it you will be a L not even an XL. I've lost weight but haven't really seen it in my clothing but in other ways - getting stronger while exercising.

Thank you for sharing your NSV. I feel like I'm moving at a turtle's pace but you have inspired me to keep going at any pace!

As always, I am hyper-jazzed about your success. You're such a great motivator, and your clarity of purpose and vision is always an inspiration.

I also appreciate you taking the time to remind us all that we make our decisions to succeed or fail daily - and, indeed, sometimes moment by moment - and that we can always decide to reevaluate our conditions within a more relevant framework.

Seeing progress - yours, our own, that of others - it will always bring us back around to right-thinking instead of negative thinking. Thank you, and congratulations on your success. Keep that money train rollin' down them tracks, son! :P

That's SOOOO awesome! NSV's are the only thing that keeps me going thru the winter. I've only lost 9 pounds since December, but I've gone down in pants and shirt sizes. Feels really good to be able to buy off the rack, huh? Way to go friend! *HUGS*

I have a similar issue.. I am 5'8", but only have 26" legs.. so my torso is long. I started at 4XL, or 3XLT's. I can fit in a L, but wear XL's comfortably. Still don't want a tight shirt.

One of the happiest days for me was when I no longer had to go to the Big & Tall shop. Saves big $$$ too, Chris..lol. No more $60 pair of khakis.Yesterday I bought some shorts, and got a size L( 38 waist ).. They are baggy, and only cost $12.99

Many ways to see results without using the scale. New clothes are great. Keep it up, and you will hit your goals.

Way to go that's awesome. That must be an incredible feeling to be able to fit into a completely different size, especially if you weren't sure they were actually going to fit. Woo!
