Sticking to it amongst the excitement

Tuesday, March 06, 2012

The household excitement continues! My youngest son made it to the PA State Championships in swimming as a 9th grader - his 200 medley relay will be competing and one of his team mates is looking for a top 3 finish in 2 individual events. Son swims the fly leg...2 seniors, a jr. and he the freshman..."swimming with the big boys!" Its exciting and nerve wracking too boot.

I can take something away from this experience: focus, even on small steps is rewarded with success. If he can practice 25 hours a week - uphold his grades, scouts and his piano.....I certainly can be more consistent in sticking to my work plan for getting fit and achieving my healthy weight goals.

Last week I was focused on mini goals - writing them down and referring to them several times per day. I did it for 3 days :(

Back to it - and let's try for 5 days? Why not ?

Today's mini goals/tasks:
1. paint bathroom wall before toilet installation tomorrow
2. Bills
3. Clean out linen closet

and of course - in addition- 30 mins exercise....sweating.

I love mini-goals. And there's a forum on Spark People that I visit sometimes. It's called "Three Item To-Do List." Having to narrow it down to just 3 items has helped me decide what's really important.
    Hang in there!
