A failed attempt

I tried to make salsa chicken for the first time today but it seems I'm having a bit of a problem with my slow cooker. It's burning anything I put in there. I read somewhere online that if food burns in the slow cooker it's because there's not enough liquid. I actually followed the recipe to the letter. Well, that's not true...it called for 1/2 cup of water and I actually put in a bit more than that. The only thing I can think of is that I used one of the slow cooker liners and that maybe it allows some of the moisture to evaporate. It tastes ok, but underneath the spice you can taste the caramelization that is a bit unpleasant. I guess I will eventually give it another shot, either without the liner or a full cup of water instead of a 1/2. *shrug*
Life goes on. At least the cheesecake I made for someone's birthday turned out looking awesome. Should taste pretty darn good too!
