The Simple Diet Journal #3 -- The First Phase

Really -- March 1st?

Today, as you can see from my photo, was a very snowy day. The kids got to stay home from school -- one of the joys of childhood that they'll always remember.

When I took that photo earlier today, it was simply because I liked how the snow filled the basketball hoop. Now, as I sit down to think about the Simple Diet, I'm seeing it in a whole new light.

Even with snow on the ground and in the hoop, my kids and a few neighborhood friends still wanted to be outdoors in the cold shooting baskets! Kids just love to move, and while it didn't occur to me to do anything more than shoot a photo when I saw the hoop today -- they immediately wanted to get the ball into that net and see the snow come falling down.

For the kids, increasing their physical activity today was all about fun -- and that's a great image to carry with me this week as I try new ways to increase my activity. I actually like working out (it's been more a matter of not letting other things schedule it out of my day), but I think remembering how much fun there can be in playing sports or just moving will help me start looking for more opportunities -- and making plans to do so!

    I loved your blog. Kids do make us see things in a different way. I told someone yesterday I was on a new journey in life and was taking baby steps first, then will toddler walk endig with being like a teenager running full speed in my fitness goals.
