The Daily Journal, Blog #4

Thursday, March 01, 2012

So yesterday I used the "Daily Journal" and have kept it this long only to report back as to how it worked. Here were my goals:

1. exercise at least 10 minutes
I actually did 17 minutes on the bike and my stretching

2. eat smart, eat well. I defined this as follows:
breakfast 300 calories
snack 100-150 calories
lunch 400 calories
snack 100-150 calories
dinner 400-1500 calories
snack 100-150 calories
Maximum Calories 1650

what I did eat:
breakfast 155 calories
snack no morning snack as I was in the midst of testing our ballots for our election at work
lunch 305 calories
2 afternoon snacks (I was hungry!!) total 399 calories
dinner 510 calories
snack 205 calories
Total 1574 calories

3. Water - 8 glasses
only drank 3 glasses, again, mostly due to the ballot testing

4. Fruits and Veggies - 5
only had 3

So I met my exercise and calorie goals, but not my water and "freggie" goals. Did I learn from that? Well, today I have already had 6 glasses of water and 2 fruits, so I'd have to say yes..

I have been wondering about this, why am I so excited by it? I think because as much as I am enthralled by the power of electronic tracking, I am basically still a person who enjoys putting the pen to the paper and writing it down. I don't have to worry about whether the computer is working quickly, or whether I am even at a computer, I just sit down and write it when I have a chance. Definitely works for me.

Have a sparky day, my friends..
