Leaping into March!

February was flop for my fitness & weight-loss goals. I don't really remember what threw me off, but I don't really care. I stumbled. I fell off the bicycle. I like to think of it as a bicycle instead of the wagon because the wagon keeps going without you! Anyway, I didn't exercise very much or sleep regularly. I alternated between sleeping way too late and feeling like I lost the whole day or not being able to sleep at all so I didn't have the energy to workout. I'm not proud, but I have been analyzing what led to this slip-up & what I can do to prevent this. I thought of sharing all this, but that would be a blog longer than I am willing to type. I'll summarize: I drank too much vodka, watched too much TV, let the housework slip & got off my sleep schedule. I've got to fix those things. They're all things I have control over, so I just have to do it! I'm doing well since Monday, and I decided to start on my March training plan. I've already done my last weigh in for February on Sunday, so onward and upward!
I'm updating my March goals on my SparkPage and my training plan, and I think it's reasonable. My basic goal is to lose 8 pounds, and the other goals are all to support this one.
I also decided it was time to change up my reward plan. I ended up owing myself because I used the money when I was broke. I promised myself I wouldn't do that, but oh, well. I'm starting over since the jar is empty and I wanted a new system anyway. I still have my incentive list, but I'm going to base it on my monthly goal instead of five pound increments. It made more sense to do it this way, plus I also decided that I should reward my efforts, regardless of if I reach my loss goal. That's more a day that I give myself permission to read all day, which I haven't done in years. I used to really enjoy it, though. Plus, it burns more calories than watching TV! I also decided that I need more frequent rewards to keep on track. I tend to get excited when I make progress towards my goal and decide I can eat whatever I want. It always throws me off, so I need more non-food rewards to avoid that. My third incentive is for every 5 pounds I lose I can take $5 from the jar and by a used CD, tape, or DVD. I think this will help reach my goals after these few weeks of slacking. Wish me luck!
