First Four Weeks -- 15 lbs gone!!!!!
I started The Simple Diet 4 weeks ago today. Having read about it, as many others have, in Woman's World, I was inspired to try it. I had toyed with the idea of doing something similar, because I've known people who paid a lot of money for hospital-run diet plans. I thought to myself, "There must be a way to utilize the concept without having to pay out the huge bucks."
While the magazine article got me started, having the book truly kept me going. Especially during weeks 2 and 3. My weight loss has been fantastic for me -- I lost 9lbs in the first week! I really couldn't believe it. Then, during weeks 2 and 3 -- nada -- a big zip. But, I didn't gain anything either, and I figured that such a large weight loss needed time to calibrate. At least that's how my body did it.
Can't say it was easy to see nothing happen during weeks 2 and 3. But, I had decided that I can wait and see what'll happen if I give this thing at least 12 weeks -- now I can't even imagine wanting to stop there.
Also, Dr. Anderson's and Nancy Gustafson's words really helped give me perspective. When I found out that the "absolute minimum four-week weight losses individuals at different weight should expect" were all lower for someone my size than my one-week loss of 9lbs (p. 171) -- I realized that I was doing great. And I was grateful!!!!
Anyway . . . I am pumped. Week 4 has brought a 6lb drop on the scale, and it now makes weeks 2 and 3 totally fade. It has been as exciting and encouraging and effective as others have described.
The title of The Simple Diet's introduction is "Meet Your Future" -- and that's what I am thinking about today. That the decision I made 4 weeks ago, and each day since, has helped me meet my future. Lord willing, same will be true at the 8-week mark. And I can't wait to see what happens.
