Slip, Slidin' Away

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Remember that song? The chorus goes something like this:

Slip, slidin' away.
Slip, slidin' away.
You know the nearer your destination,
the more you're slip, slidin' away.

This last month or so I've felt like I was slip, sliding away from my destination and from what I know works for me. I was looking for (and finding) excuses to not eat properly and excuses to make poor choices. I was talking the talk without walking the walk; I was easing up on the exercise, which is always easy for me to do since I don't like it much. And, I was whining (mostly to myself) about my lack of progress.

This morning I had a heart to heart talk with myself and decided the “buck stops here” and I can and will re-commit myself to this happier and healthier ME that I am slowly letting emerge from the layers of fat surrounding ME. Recently I've become complacent on this journey and I haven't focused very well for awhile. I acknowledge that and take responsibility for my actions.

So, here I am...feeling energized and again ready to take on the world. But, before I do, I want to say thank you to all my SparkFriends for your ongoing support and love and help that you sometimes don't even know you're giving!! Thank you for sharing your stories of successes and struggles, for your humanness and insecurities, and above all your friendship! As we travel this road together nothing can stop us and I know we'll be able to accomplish all we are working so hard to do! As we're moving forward, I'll focus on that, and on the fat that is slip, slidin' away from the real ME!

I remember that song, and that's a good one to remember , "Not to let all the good work we have done, slip away.".
It's so easy to get caught up in the everyday life and before you know if , you have slipped back two months. We work so hard to lose a pound and can gain it back in a hot minute. But since it is so hard to lose, we will not gain any of those hard earned lost pounds back. Let that be your mantra.
I know we have busy lives, we schedule all kind of activities. You have to schedule time for yourself. Time to plan your meals and exercise. Make it a priority. You can do it.
There should be nothing more important than your health. And losing weight and getting fit will improve your health.
We are all traveling on the road to a better healthy life, we are just at different places on the same road.
Think of it as a trip, each day brings some new to enjoy in your life.
    Take care,
Tisha emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Jeannie, I don't know how I missed this Blog but I am so glad I found it. That is what happened to me on our last trip south. It is so hard to stay on program when friends always want to go here or there and out to eat, and then all those pot lucks. When is there time to eat right or get our exercise in. I was to busy playing hand and foot or Bingo. So I am so happy you came to your sences early. I struggled with mine quite a few months before Tisha Spark Mailed me on my second anniversary last April. So thanks to tublady I am back.
I love going but its better being home for me.
    Hugs, Gail

You wrote that perfectly. That happens to all of us from time to time, but the important thing is to get your focus back and do what you know works for you. Sounds like you have a firm hold on this one.

Jeannie, You've had great success so far but you've had that bump in the road and now a wake up call so you will focus again on making WL one of your top priorities again. I really admire your honesty as I kind of suspected it was getting harder for you especially being you're on vacation and eating out more. I'm the Queen of Excuses myself so I'm trying to do what I know I need to do. I have great Faith in your ability to get going again and do what you figured out you have and will go back to doing. Go get'em Jeannie!! I think the "World" of you and want you to keep having Success.

Oh yeah... I have been there very recently. You are right to acknowledge your progress. You've been moving along very well. You know what works and it sounds like you are motivated in actually getting back to doing what works. For me, I started by logging my food again. Every day! I'm hoping the rest of "what works" will follow. Actually, hoping is not the best word for that. You said it up there, commitment works. We can do this!
