Never use a change room with 3 mirrors!

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

It was so hot today (32C) that I forgo the beach or poolside and headed for the comfort of the aircon in the nearest mall. Desperately need some new tops, and had the misfortune of trying some on in a fitting room with 3 mirrors.

Now, even though I was only trying on tops, I was wearing a dress, so had to whip that off to try the merchandise. Well do you know with 3 strategically placed mirrors you can see how big your bum is, the hangy down fat area that seems to generate under your bra strap, your unflat side profile, and the backs of your arms!!!!

Just when I was feeling likeI'dd lost some weight, and was feeling better about myself I had to go and experience this! U N P L E A S A N T!!

I don't look nearly this bad inside my head!!

A perfect time to take some pictures, so you can look back once you hit your goals and see just how far you've come! I am not afraid of mirrors, and if I had the good fortune to have three placed so well as you did, I would whip my phone out and snap a bunch of pictures! I have no good pictures of "before", or really any good ones to show my progress properly :). Focus on any differences you see, and not how awful you think you look. Once I did that, I noticed that I have some definition in my waist, which I had been blind to previously, as I tended not to really take a good, hard look in the mirror :)

It can happen when you least expect it, with any reflective surface.
Just the other week I was in the bedroom getting changed out of some wet pants from walking in the rain, and I don't have any mirrors in my room, but I caught my reflection in the TV, and that TV is definitely at the right level to see my problem areas - hips/thighs. I was so horrified.
Perhaps you could find the best part of your body and focus on that next time? That way you wont feel so discouraged.

I understand, it's why I am not in a hurry to go out and buy a new pair of jeans even though I desperately need them! I just don't want to face the mirrors!!!!

I also had a similar experience with changing room mirrors on Sunday. I had to buy "Business attire" for my class...dresses, skirts, nice tops....Not only do I honestly NOT like wearing things like that ( I'm more of a jeans / shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops kind of gal, I also saw the bulges and flab wiggle and jiggle as I changed repeatedly, lol. However, as I saw these I also saw "target" areas that I now know I can fix. Mirrors do have a bad habit of pointing out our "imperfections" but they also help us to see what needs to be fixed emoticon

I'm not at all discouraged (maybe a little disappointed), just makes me realize I've got plenty of work yet to do! Can't give up!

I totally know what you mean! I had a moment like that today in a regular mirror! But it's okay--you're making progress! Don't let the mirrors get you down! Just think about the progress you'll be able to see the next time you go in there :)
