Replace starch and sugar with non-starchy veggies as often as possible. Put them on your “MUST EAT” list and you won’t have much room left for the starchy, sugary stuff.

Your body will thank you; your blood work will be better; you’ll feel better; you’ll lose some weight. When you slip up, just try again next meal. Eventually, you won’t miss the starch and sugar and you’ll have a strong, healthy habit that will stick with you.

Now that I eat this way, I don’t worry about counting calories or fat or carbs. I just focus on all the varieties and combinations of non-starchy veggies I can come up with. Raw, roasted, in the crockpot, whatever. I eat whatever protein that appeals to me as well as nuts and fruit. I have a little of the starchy food on weekends. I almost never think of sweets anymore. I feel great!

You don't have to be perfect with this, but the more you head that direction, the better off you'll be.

Remember: You've probably never been told you need to eat more sugar!
You've probably never been told you are eating too many veggies!
There's a reason for that, lol.
