update on my dad

Sunday, February 26, 2012

This pic was taken on Christmas Day 2012

My dad has a lot of fortitude and faith. He lives with only 22% of his heart working, he has bladder cancer, an aortic heart anurism, gout, arthritis, kidney disease, and cataracts.

At the age of 82, he still does a ministry for God - a tape ministry which he started when he was about 67 years old. He fights the good fight living one day at a time standing in faith that God is not done with him yet. So he walks in faith that God has healed his body.

I have a sibling or two who ask me - "what do I tell the doctors?" when they are addressing his health and dad is saying: "NO! NO! NO! God has healed me." I tell them, "You may not believe - but don't you down talk dad's faith" We do not walk by sight, we walk by faith. Dad is a walking miracle. Most would have laid down and died when they learned that their heart is only working at 22%.
I am just saying out of fear - I see and hear this about those of us with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). Fear cripples some - not dad. He walks a bit every day - (he does have a scooter for far walks), he does some strength and stretching a few times a week.

Dad is still hanging in here. I love helping to take care of him. I love our time together and the many many blessings of his presence in my life. The stories of his youth and time spent in the military have impacted my life.

I very much appreciate my dad.

If you have a parent you appreciate and love - let them know today.
Time is so precious with those we love.

I love you dad.
