Good for you! Keep working. I think I decided to do another half marathon in May....about 12 weeks from now. I am nowhere near the shape or weight I need to be, but I figured even if I have to walk part of it, it is something to train for and accomplish. I did a half marathon in 2009 and did not train correctly for it at all. I only went through with it because I had signed up with some friends and did not want to back out. It was a very small race (50ish people) and I came in dead last. I was so discouraged by that. This time I am looking at doing a bigger race (3000 people). I think that should be better as I won't feel so left behind. I figure if I can do it in about the same time as before, I will be in the middle of the pack. We'll see. I am going to start training and see how my body handles it, if it starts to seem to out of reach, I will find a later date. Can't wait to watch your training progress. emoticon

Good luck on your training for the half. I am now in my 4th week of training for my first half marathon in April. Can't wait to hear about the race and see pictures. emoticon

Im looking into a heart rate monitor watch. I need a watch in general, and thought how cool would it be to see how hard im working, and how many calories im REALLY burning. I like one, by Polar? I think thats the brand. But its just under 100.
Anywho :) , any type of training, is trial by error. Now your trying a new technique to train for your 1/2 marathon. Seems like so far its working for ya. And YOU WILL OWN THIS MARATHON, wanna know why? BECAUSE U WANT IT! You can do anything u have your set on and u work towards. I have no doubt that u will kill it. Keep me posted :)

You're so cute! Lol. You can do this, Emily! Slow and steady. Take it easy during the week and do the long runs on the weekend. Definitely strength train/tone once, twice, maybe three times a week to help your other muscles keep up with your legs. Core strength is important for running too! emoticon I'm excited for my first half in September! Eek! Haha emoticon
