What sugar cravings?? :)

Breakfast...the magical dieting pill!! :) Why? Because the sugar cravings are GONE!!!

My new hard fast rule for my stinking breakfast. At actual breakfast time, not 2 hours after I wake up. :) I was struggling...really hard...and now I'm not!! It's like being reborn!! Into the Cult of Bacon and Eggs!! :)

My new plan is working for me...I eat NO MORE than 30 minutes after I wake up. It was challenging on the first day, but by yesterday morning (day 3), it was already habit! I actually woke up hungry, and the same thing happened today! This meal is ALWAYS going to have to be a protein and a carb...because it's working! I've even figured out how to work around my lazy gene with scoop of protein in my coffee not only takes care of my protein requirements, but also solves the issue of near empty calories from cream and sugar! I've been having a piece of fruit with it, and today instead had a "treat" of a whole grain english muffin with a little cream cheese on it. Both are working as my carb for this meal!

The rest of this plan was to force myself to stick to eating the other 4-5 small meals of the day 2.5-3 hours apart. Which I've always completely sucked at...but not right now!! Since I'm starting my "furnace" in the morning with the balanced breakfast, I'm actually finding myself experiencing REAL hunger about 2.5 hours later!! WOO!! (I'm one of those "never hungries" before noon). The rest of the day is falling into place after that! I'm making sure to ALWAYS have some kind of protein with every meal...which really seems to be helping too!

I'm accidentally/on purpose eating A LOT of real food right processed crap, except for the whey protein powder which technically counts as processed food, but I'm not "counting" because it's rescuing me from cream and Splenda (the lesser of two evils, right?) I'm thanking couponing for this one right now...I haven't had any truly good deals on "diet" food in the last month, so I don't have any in the house. And I've decided that I don't care how cheaply I can get processed diet food...I'm NOT buying it anymore!! (Who am I kidding...I can't pass up a crazy deal. But I'm going to give it to friends and family instead of living on it myself!) :)

So...moral of this story. EAT YOUR BREAKFAST. It IS the most important meal of the day!! Sugar cravings do not necessarily mean that you are 'weak'!! It is your body telling you that you aren't eating help your body help you by starting yourself out right and it will stop making you crave sugar!!

    That seems really sound advice. I think I should work harder at following it. When I do have breakfast it is often just an apple. I should add some peanut butter or cheese to it.

    Awesome!!! protein def. helps w/my sugar cravings (as does essentially "flushing" all of the extra processed sugar out of my system for a couple of weeks). So glad to hear you have it under control!!

    I have noticed the same thing. I eat protein (greek yogurt) and carb (granola or cereal or oatmeal) and it makes me feel great!

    I also heard that if you eat within 30 mins of waking up it boosts your metabolism.

    Um, dur? If you're in a hurry, I like a tofu shake (sounds weird, but it works - and tofu is cheap). 1/2 cup soft tofu, banana, milk, and some berries or whatever other soft fruit you have on hand - blend and suck through a straw. Protein + carb - plus you don't really feel like you're eating if your not in the mood.

    mmm, I love my breakfasts! I also eat 4-5 main meals a day, which works amazing for me! Keeps me satisfied until I eat about 3 hours later. I never thought of protein powder in my coffee....may have to try that sometime.

    I started doing the protein powder in my coffee yesterday...but I can only do half a scoop...or it gets yuck...but I do really like it...and the guilt over being a coffee addict is gone!!!! That is so a plus... emoticon

    I try to eat my breakfast every day now! But I usually don't get it in within a half hour of waking up. I hate mornings, so I usually wait to eat it until right when I get to work. I'm now a peanut butter addict because I eat it nearly every day for the protein. (Just a tablespoon) My favorite right now is a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Makes me feel like a kid again. :) Although I certainly wouldn't say no right away to joining your Cult of Bacon and Eggs. :D

    If I can drag my tired self out to swim tomorrow morning (for the 5th day in a row), I'll try having the leftover mandarin oranges (no sugar added) from my lunch today with a piece of toast. I keep thinking of your "protein + carb" rule now every time I look for food.

    I'm a converted breakfast eater too. I didn't eat breakfast for many, many years. Even as a kid. I think I stopped around grade 7. Now, I pre-make my breakfast and eat it in the van on the way to work (so about an hour after I get up). It makes a huge difference!
