Nutrition definitely MUST improve. You’d think with all those calories burned working out I would have lost something… Nope. Ended the month exactly how I started it- 135 lbs. I actually went up during the month but lost it and broke even. Oh well. Could be worse I suppose, but certainly CAN BE BETTER. I am very happy with my fitness activity.

Until I wrote out this blog I hadn’t realized all the cool and new stuff I did this month:

emoticon 10 mile Fun Run (an organized training run in preparation for the Half Marathon I did on Feb 5). Very happy because my time improved 3 minutes from last year’s fun run, which was really only 9.5 miles!! Win!
emoticon Got a free training session at the gym and rocked it out! I wish I could afford a trainer because they push you to your limits, and more.
emoticon Bought a 10 lb kettlebell, and used it several times. In terms of weight, it did not seem very challenging. However it worked well for doing the basic kettlebell moves and turned out to be quite a good workout. Definitely felt I was engaging different muscles than in my usual workouts, it got my heart rate up fast and certainly felt it the next day. It’s going to be good addition to my routines, for the challenge and the variety. But I may need to find a 12 or 15 lb kb.
emoticon I got a mini-trampoline! (Note to Sparkpeople: Need a trampoline emoticon please). I got a super cheap, used-but-new one from a co-worker. I checked out routines on youtube, plus the video that came with it. And jumping I went! What a fun and easy way to get your heart rate pumping! In front of the TV or with the radio on I jumped my butt off (well not yet, but that’s the plan!). You can easily go as intense/high impact or as low as you want; and there’s a bunch of moves/exercises you can do on it. It makes a really good cardio routine, or for quick high-impact cardio intervals when doing strength-training.

I’m not quite on track with my other non-fitness goals but I’m still Ok and am sure I will make it. Not much happening in February other than my 4th half-marathon which was on Sunday the 5th. Not even close to my half PR, but I did it in a minute less than last year so I am happy. It is by far the most challenging (and most popular) race in Puerto Rico. Just look at the elevation chart. Geoffrey Mutai, record-winner of Boston and NYC marathons last year, ran this edition in 1:03.
