New Job Butterflies!

Monday, February 13, 2012

So I start my new job today (9 month temporary promotion to university student advisor / course scheduler), and I must say I'm kind of nervous. Realistically, there isn't a lot to be nervous about --- (a) it's in my same faculty, so I know the people, (b) as this is a temp. promotion I have my other job to go back to at the end of the 9 months, and (c) this week is reading break for the students, so it will be quite quiet on campus, without many students needing advising. I'll be training another temporary person this week to cover the duties in my normal job --- so really, this week shouldn't be too stressful. However, as a person prone somewhat to anxiety, of course I'm feeling a bit nervous anyway, lol.

I'm also going to check out a TOPS meeting tomorrow evening, which should be interesting --- and will hopefully give me something else new to think about (menu planning, etc.) besides my new job! There are a couple of different TOPS groups that meet in my general area. I like the fact that TOPS is not-for-profit, and that the fees are much lower than Weight Watchers. Gotta like lower fees!! The local meeting times are better for me, too. I just seem to need that "in-person" accountability and weekly weigh-in to get consistency with weight loss and healthy eating.

Have a good week, everyone!
