New steps towards better health

This past fall my doctor recommended I see a weight management specialist. I put off calling for a while. On Tuesday, I had my consultation. I guess I was nervous because my blood pressure was out of control. I spent quite a bit of time talking about how I think I got to this point (stress?), my gym routine, and goals for myself. The doctor was kind and listened and offered some great suggestions. He also wrote me a script for several medications, including an appetite suppressant and another for a blood sugar stabilizer.

I knew I needed help and he agreed that there may be something hormonal going on with me. My food choices haven't been super, but not so bad as to make me gain weight, especially since I have been going to the gym 3-4 days a week. Talk about frustrating!

The first two days were tough. The medicine gave me a headache and made me feel foggy. People remarked about how I seemed different. I was worried I would have to discontinue with the meds. Thankfully the headache ended. I believe now it is really making a difference. I have 5 days down and my food choices have been good, I haven't indulged in any junk, and I continue with the gym routine. This is not to say I am not tempted by all the chocolate and goodies in my house, but I have not given in. I hope that continues. And I hope this path I have chosen continues to support me along the road towards better health for me.
