The beauty of blogging....

Sunday, February 12, 2012

The beauty of blogging is you can see exactly the progress you have (or have not made). When I started out on this journey I had no idea where it would take me. Obviously I've made progress and obviously I've accomplished a lot. A lot of things that I should be very proud of. And a lot of things I am VERY proud of.
But this journey has had its lows too. I've learned things about myself that I haven't liked. I've had to face things that have haunted me in my past. I've had to deal with failures.
Apparently I've been complaining about my pants for more than month and I've done nothing about it. In fact, counter-productively, I've signed up to run a marathon and my running tights are too tight. Failed.

The point of this blog isn't to complain. I'm writing this as a reference for the future and to force myself to face the music. And facing it I am.

Sooooooo....facing the music. I stepped on the scale this morning. The scale and I have never been friends and probably never will be. I've done the measuring thing and I know it works but it stresses me out just as much as the scale. So, I will still use the scale in addition to my measuring.
I knew it wouldn't be pretty, and it wasn't. But after a couple weeks of eating whatever, including beer cheese soup (it was soooooo good), an entire pizza (white garlic pizza...yum), a fried chicken sandwich (FRIED with mayo...), etc, what did I expect? I got what I expected.
185.5 lbs
That means I've gained about 12 pounds since October. That means I have a lot of work to do. That means there is progress to be made. That means I can do it. That means I WILL do it.

Marathon training is still in its VERY early weeks and hasn't been affected yet (except for today's 5 mile long run). But I can't let this be affected as race season is upon us. In fact the first race of the season is a mere 33 days away. And I plan on running it faster this year than last. And I have the Fargo Half Marathon coming up in May that my husband will be running with me. He's depending on me for the training so I HAVE to stick with it for him too.
And swimsuit season is coming soon. I've been confident in my suit for 2 years now and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let 10+ lbs stand in my way.

Here I go!!!! XOXO!!

P.S. Take this bible quote as you'd like. I'm putting it in my pocket to reference daily.
"That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

You have enough spunk to get through this. I agree about the blogging, it references things we've done and will do. So up with blogging....
