I have discovered that my body seems to react much better to moderate strength training with a small amount of cardio than a large amount of cardio with a small amount of strength training. I was burning about 4500 calories a week with straight cardio and only a little bit of strength training, but was seeing absolutely no results whatsoever. I had about 2 weeks of no exercise at all due to a hospital stay with my 2 year old and then the rest of us were sick for a while. After that I had 2 strength training days, one on Friday and the other on Monday (with no cardio at all) and lost a pound. I know my family has a history of building muscle fast but that fast?!!?! I guess I won't be wasting any more time with excess cardio and will be focusing on excellent form for strength training now. I will still be doing cardio just not so much of it. Well wish me luck!
