Patience for everyone else NONE for ME

Wednesday, February 08, 2012

I am, beyond a shadow of doubt, a terrible patient. I do much better on the other side being a nurse. While walking inside my home I recently "rolled my ankle". Doesn't sound too bad does it? Well, who would have thought that 3/4 of an inch difference in flooring could have resulted in being unable to put any weight on my foot. The xray was negative. Just a ton of pain, swelling and bruising. Today is day nine and I am very tired of sitting around missing work, elevating my foot, icing my foot, and trying not to stress eat. Employee Health said, "maybe a month before I can return."
Today I decided I would do something constructive and I did my pilates (with my ankle wrapped). It went very well. It went so well I decided I would wash some windows, mirrors, TV's, do some laundry and take the dogs outside just for a little walk or in my case hobble. I will bet you can all predict that right now my foot is swelling and the pain is increasing. I must be an idiot. I would have really tore into any of my patients that did that. Honestly I should have my head examined! I am very patient with EVERYONE ELSE and extremely IMPATIENT with anything that has to do with ME!

Maybe, try to think of those tasks you have been putting off because you didn't want to sit down long enough to do them. I have lots of those! Chris emoticon

Aw, Sal, hope your recovery is quick. Take care of yourself. This time will pass, even though it may not feel like it now.

Sal I totally relate! Its also hard to sit in one place when one is not accustomed to it. The more you stay on that ankle though the longer your recovery period is going to be. Hang in there catch up on some reading as Joe suggested.

Sorry - I can't help laughing at a medically misbehaving nurse. You should know by now that only congress is allowed to break their own rules.
May God heal you quickly so you can get back to your active lifestyle. Meanwhile, you can catch up on your reading.
