I'm reading Chalene johnson's PUSH. It's a fairly good read. She writes like she talks.
Anyway, some of the things that have resonated with me so far:
* Make a list of what you want to accomplish this year. This an exercise that is done more than once. It allowed me to see which items showed up consistently.
* Focus on the destination and not the obstacles. I have a problem with the munchies once I get home from work. When I get the munchies now, I focus on a picture of a slimmer self, sitting on the beach, comfortable in a bathing suit, & enjoying the scene.
Another thing I like about her book is that she takes the time to explain, in a scientific way, why the tried & true rules of weight loss are worth following and sticking with. She makes it make senese in a way that resonates with me now. Could be that I'm finally ready to hear it, but I'm willing to give it a shot - for real and for a period of time. My problem is stick-to-it-ness. I don't stick to things long enough to see lasting success. So, the methodical wayshe is laying things out in her book gives me belief that I can stick with it, but she focuses on more than the weight loss, but on the goals and dreams that you have outside of weight loss.
Check it out if you get a chance. It's in hardback and on Kindle.
