I've been playing with the food tracker.....

So lately, I've been entering foods to see how they fit into my diet & then making choices of what I want to eat and then going back to delete the items I opted out of eating. It's been working really well.

Yesterday I went shopping at BIG LOTS to look for all the health food overstock I could find. I made some very good purchases & only spent about $25! I got Bob's Red Mill Vegi Soup Mix. I LOVE THAT STUFF!!! I also got a whole wheat bread mix for my bread machine. Guess what's for lunch today? lol. Mmmm!! Nothing like soup & warm bread on a snowy day! 1 cup of soup has 206 calories, 36 carbs (14 fiber), 2 grams of fat & 12 grams of protein. It is so hearty.

I also picked up some Muesli, which I've never eaten before. The box said to mix it with milk, fruit juice or yogurt & either eat it immediately, wait 5-10 minutes or let it sit overnight like they do... um, wherever this stuff comes from... lol. I did have some in yogurt for a snack yesterday and OMGosh was it amazing!!! So I compared Muesli & yogurt vs my regular breakfast of 3 egg whites, double fiber wheat bread & mozzarella and made my decision of what I wanted to eat for breakfast today based on numbers instead of letting my tongue make the decisions. That was new. So which breakfast do you think I chose??

Also, I've been trying to buy & serve my family a lot more whole grains, much to the dismay of my husband. I was starting to think he was a lost cause but last night he made some very wise choices at a restaurant. He had grilled salmon, baked potato & broccoli. (He didn't have a choice with the broccoli. It came with the fish. HA HA HA!!) I was shocked. Normally he goes for breaded & deep fried shrimp & french fries. Maybe there is hope for him yet.

Not much else new here. I had a rough start to the week exercise-wise because of lower back pain stemming from a car accident last Saturday. I didn't reach my exercise goals for the week but I'm (semi-)OK with it. There's not much I can do. I still have discomfort on occasion while Zumba-ing but I'm plugging away!

I hope everyone enjoys this weekend. I plan on it.
