My Pittsburgh vacation.

I am on vacation this week and I went to Pittsburgh with a couple of friends. This is only the second time I have been and the first time was just an overnight stay. Since it is a four hour drive for us (from Hanover) we stayed Monday-Wednesday.
Monday when we got there went to Penn Brewery for some lunch and a beer. I really like Penn beers but they are so hard to find in my area. We then went and found our hotel and the manager told of us a really good place to eat, Hoffbrau on the South Side. I lived in Germany for 4 years and the food at Hoffbrau was just like I was back in Germany. Great food and a really fun place. Oh, and yes the beer was good. As I was the driver I only had one beer when we went out.
Tuesday it was in the mid 50's so we hit the zoo. What a great zoo, you could actually see the animals. We spent a couple of hours walking around the zoo and aquarium and it was only $10 for both!!! After we left the zoo went to the strip district, I needed a new Steelers coat. We walked the strip for about 3 hours. We parked on 8th street and walked down to 19th street. Went to Church Works brewery for dinner Tuesday night, great food.
The town I come from is not really big so I am not used to big city driving, oh what fun ! I took my TomTom and thought that would be a big help. Yeah, it kept telling me to turn where I couldn't or would tell me too late to "take the exit right". We got the scenic tour of Pittsburgh but we all laughed about it. Next time someone else drives. Finding a place to park was an adventure in itself. I would turn into a parking lot and it was for leased lot only. Most of the parking garages were full or we went by them before we saw them. So we did a lot of walking but for me that is a good thing.
Overall we really enjoyed the trip and we will most definitely be going back.
