When the goal becomes blurry

"However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—” 1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV
This verse also reminds me of Hebrews 11:1, which defines faith as hope in the things we cannot see. Very few have actually seen what God looks like, let alone what eternity has to offer.
Just as we can imagine what the new earth and new Jerusalem may look like (and John gives us a pretty good description), we can imagine our life after we achieve our goal. It doesn't matter if that goal is to lose weight, get in shape or stay in shape. It is our imagination, or hope that keeps us going; to the carrots instead of candy bar, or the gym instead of the couch. God has something great in store for all of us. All we have to do is give Him our love and obedience. When you are struggling with a plateau, look toward Him, and toward you goal. As the apostle Paul wrote, "I ran the good fight..."He did this by keeping his eye on the single most important part of his life, God the Father. Through Him we can achieve anything we set our minds to. When the goal seems to blur or be out of reach, look toward your Heavenly Father. Though He we can do anything in Christ Jesus who strengthens us (Phil. 4:16).
