bag is packed

Dear Mr and I took the last few days off together, just to touch in with each other and deal with some business. As it turns out it was a very well timed staycation. The drama has been raining and pouring in my life. Newly renewed money stresses, a dear friend with a failing marriage, economy driven workplace tensions, bumped up timelines on big life events. Don't forget the gloomy January weather. Oi, skipping the gritty details it has been a rough week even with the time off work.
However I think I'm now in a good place mentaly, all these crummy life bits have given me renewed focus. My gym bag is packed and ready to go after work this week.
Also in rebellion of daily stress and grim economy a couple of co-workers and I are going to try to put together a team for a long distance relay race! We thought we might do the Hood to Coast relay in 2013. That's 200 miles in 36 hours shared by 12 people. However it was sounding like it might not be the best event for us now we are looking at a relay that goes from Portland to Eugene, that one is only 170 miles! emoticon
I love the idea, but I feel like a crazy person. It is going to take a lot of training to get me to a place where I can keep up with even our "casual fun attitude" driven team. Losing weight will help that a lot as well- lighter body, easier impacts, better for my health.
I am inspired and motivated by the idea so I'm all in despite irritating little voices of reason.

I read your blog twice. The taking care of business and working through drama are challenges for everyone that I'm glad you are taking care of.

Then those LONG running events just blew me away. It made me think of the old saying about aiming for a star and whatever you accomplish will be a good achievement. So have fun, whatever you decide to challenge yourself with!

Depending on the team size I'd only be responsible for 15 or 20 of those miles. .. still it'll be a big challenge for me.

It's good to hear you took care of business on your staycation. I really admire the fact that you and your Mr. take the time to do what it takes to work through the rough stuff. Not everyone does.

As far as running 170 miles - that IS a crazy but wonderful idea! Pfffft, what's a measly 170 miles anyway? emoticon I have no doubt you can do it! Here's to inspiration and motivation! emoticon
