2012: Week 4 No Goals No Gain...no Loss either!!!

Whoever said "Failure to plan is planning to fail!!!" Had a good point.

Last weekend I did not take the opportunity to set goals for the coming week. As a result I found myself floundering a little bit. I lacked focus, and did not have anything substantive to track.

Initially, i was not sure what goals to set. I was told that it was necessary for me to stay off my feet for two weeks to get passed an over use injury...how do you set a fitness goal when you can't do much fitness? You PLAN to do APPROPRIATE fitness exercises...in this case upper body and core training that does not put pressure on the ankles or foot!

I'm participating in a church wide fast so I was not sure what to do with respect to the nutrition goals for the week. I had already done a limited calorie goal during week 3 and I wasn't sold on any new goal. So I did not set a goal, i ate mindlessly more this week than I had since the first of the year. I wasn't egregiously over calories or anything but I couldn't tell you whether I had a successful week or not.

I failed to articulate plans for what would keep me on track and motivated this week...the end result, I was lacking focus and motivation, I did manage to complete devotional readings most days this week, but I would likely have been more consistent if I knew I was tracking it!

Last, but not least, I did not set out a specific plan for spreading the spark this week. I logged on and reached out to others but, again. I can't say I met any goals in the process.

The purpose of this blog is not simply to whine about my lack of goals for the past week. It is intended to point out that, were I to allow it, this could be the beginning of a major derailment. Thankfully, I am not compelled to do so. Rather, this is the time to pull my stuff together and set SMART goals for Week 5! emoticon So...I'm ready to do just that...anyone else want to join me???

    It sounds as if you did accomplish some positive learning this past week. Good for you! Not everyone is as enlightened after making such choices. Your attitude impresses me. I'm with you for pulling things together and making the SMART goals for this week. emoticon
