January 2012: Best month so far!

Having completed my final weigh-in for January, I decided this was a great time to evaluate my progress for January. Initially, I want to be disappointed. I mean, I didn't reach my goal weight of 255.2 pounds. I missed a week of exercise (due to that terrible cough) and the past few days I spent recovering from the mole removal. I went over my calorie range almost half of the month. Almost doesn't count!! I suppose this natural need to put down my efforts is a remnant of my fading depression. (I've started taking Prozac again and am starting to feel like my old self again :-)
However, I applied a different perspective to January and found plenty of positives to shut that negative voice up! First, I lost six pounds overall this month! Wow! I've never done that since I joined SparkPeople! I was taking Hydroxycut four years ago and maybe lost roughly that much. This time, I did it on my own! The old-fashioned way: plenty of exercise and nutritious diet!!
I didn't meet my fitness minutes goal, either. Too bad! I did that January Jumpstart Workout Challenge and pushed myself to the limit of what I could do. And I was right back on it once I was recovered. I'm seeing muscles I haven't in years and feel fitter! I was finally able to enjoy a thirty minute walk (even though I'm still slightly sore from the procedure Thursday.) It was beautiful outside, and I really enjoyed it. Plus, I noticed that I was able to walk faster more easily than I have been before! Cool! I'm making progress, very satisfactory progress in spite of my high expectations. My additional challenge in February is to keep my darn dishes clean! That's what has been contributing to my unhealthy eating most of the time. I have too many dirty dishes and either don't want to make any more dirty or I don't have any more to make dirty! Plus, I'll burn more calories! I hand wash them because my dishwasher is too small and inefficient.
I'm ready for February! I have a plan, and I know I can do it!
