I want to be strong and have muscles
To become these things I need to exercise and eat right. Well I have the exercise part down pretty well. It's the eating right and staying in calorie range that I have trouble with.
It's been an up and down journey so far, in December 2006 I weighed 189, by March 2007 I weighed 167, I maintained that weight for almost 4 years, before gaining it all back. So now my focus is on losing that and more to reach my goal.
I love salty and sweet foods. I am also an emotional eater and when emotions take hold I reach for these foods and consume them until I feel sick at times. This is something I am working on changing. How...well now I am portioning out the salty foods into snack size ziploc bags, so when I do reach for them...I don't do as much damage as eating the entire bag would. I still get the taste and crunch I'm after. Sweet foods (ie., cakes, cookies, pies, brownies, snack cakes, etc.,) I am also watching portion sizes. I didn't do this in the past.
Other changes: I am also reaching for more fruits and veggies to satisfy and fill me up.
Exercise, using everything from treadmills, exercise bike, walking, running, weights, dvds and the Wii and XBox to mix-up my workouts on a regular basis.
I asked for and got some new cookbooks. Recently subscribed to the Clean Eating and Oxygen magazines. Also have been reading The Eat Clean Diet series of books by Tosca Reno. So I am learning as much as I can to help me achieve my goals of being healthy, fit, and more toned.
My SparkFamily and Friends as well as the BLC teams have helped me to realize that I am not alone on this journey and has given me support, motivation, and encouragement along the way.
