Well I did it. I went to my first Zumba class after thinking about it for a year. My local Y just started them this past summer. I was still getting over a sore back and didn't want to do something that active until I felt better.

Today's class was very interesting. It was a kick off class so almost all the instructors were there. Before the actual class started there was an introduction of the instructors. The energy level was so high. I also liked it that the instructors were mixed in with everyone so you could really follow anyone of them.

I was afraid that I would not be able to keep up but it didn't matter. Everyone is at their own level and ability. The music was so exciting and pumping. We started out with We Will Rock You! It was awesome. We would sing and dance at the same time. There was even a Michael Buble song and I thought about my son because he loves Michael and sings the songs all the time. The song was Save the Last Dance for Me. Even though it isn't really fast just moving around to it was tiring but in a good way.

As the class was coming to an end the instructors talked about all the different Zumba classes they have. Zumba Gold for those that can't jump around as much or have joint pain. Aqua Zumba so if you really have joint pain try this class. They even have one for children. Which I think is awesome. Another class is Zumba Toning. You use weights, light weights and you move the arms slowly and with control. We learned that if you move them fast with the weights you won't get any toning because it is just momentum. You even don't need to use weights. It is the repetition that also helps with the toning.

I found that the most interesting part. Now I have many different choices for Zumba classes and I hope to try a few of them. I also have Zumba offered by our recreation center and I may check that out just in case I can't make it to the Y.

Even if I wake up tomorrow in pain I will be happy because I know it will be good pain!!

emoticon Zumba is wonderful. I can't do too much of it right now and would love to try out the aqua Zumba. They offer it but first I need to get a new swimsuit. I have Zumba on my Xbox 360 Kinect and boy oh boy do I look ridiculous doing it. I just skip the beginning steps and jump into the song because I learn better that way. I figure in time I will be wonderful at time. emoticon I tend to use my Dance Central more right now.

Thanks everyone. Rainstorm17 - I want to get the Zumba for my Wii, so that on days that I can't make the class I can try to do it at home.

Sassy5468, I am sure those ladies are hilarious to watch but it sure does defeat the purpose. I know you will enjoy the Zumba class when you do re-join your gym.

Keep up the great work everyone!!

Awesome!!! I want to try Zumba, too! I saw a class that they hold at a bar a couple of months ago. It was pretty hilarious because a bunch of the ladies come early and DRINK before doing it :) Kind of defeats the purpose, I think. But, I am going to be re-joining our gym with my boyfriend and they have classes. Can't wait to try it!

Sounds like you had a really good time. I have the zumba game for ps3; can't keep up with it yet but I like dancing to the music and as long as I move I think it's a good thing. Enjoy your new class. emoticon emoticon

Wow! Congratulations. I have been thinking about doing Zumba too - it has been about a year since I have been telling myself to just do it. Your local Y sounds AWESOME - Aqua Zumba too.

    Keep up the good work.
