I joined SP on January 5th last year. I was 284 pounds at that time. I am now 260 but have gotten as low as 253, with my goal being 240. Although my "ideal" weight is supposed to be around 185! That I feel is unrealistic, I'm a big boned farm boy from Iowa. I grew up baling hay, pushing hogs and scooping "stuff". This made me the person I am today and shaped my body into what it is. I haven't been 185 since probably my freshman year in high school. I graduated at 220 and I think that that maybe that would be my "ideal" weight. Basic training trimmed me down a bit but never got me under 205. So when I do my BMI I have to shrug it off, because according to that measurement I will always be obese.
Sparkpeople has helped me tremendously, when I track my food and exercise I see results. When I don't I bounce back up in weight. Being on SP has gotten me into running, which as long as my legs can carry me I will run.
This year has been a good year, the weight losses have been great. The gains this year were even better. Especially gaining my beautiful wife Sarah.
