I'm within range on my HDL, LDL, and Triglycerides!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I first started my doctor was concerned I was going to have a heart attack at any time. My HDL was a 31 and my dad had his last heart attack in his mid 20 lvl HDL and my brother had his at a 27. After the first 40 lbs lost mine went up to a 36 and my doctor wasn't happy about it. Then I lost this last 55 lbs and now it's a 47. A 47 DO YOU HEAR ME A 47!!!!! In range is higher than 46. 47 is higher than 46!!!! I feel like screaming it out the world right now!
I watched my dad have multiple heart attacks. It wasn't fair to have to see that. Now I know my kids will never have that memory!

Extra note: I def know to watch my diet and that heart attacks come because of multiple reasons. But genetically heart disease is the biggest killer in my family do to low HDL levels. It started with my great grandfather who died at 29 (age) and my grandfather who died of a massive heart attack at 40(age). Even as a skinny soccer player my brother has had a hard time keeping his up and still ended up having a heart attack. Me being able to get mine this high even with it being low starting at the age of 16 is a huge sigh of relief for me. Sorry if this post made me sound a little ignorant to how other heart attacks happen.

emoticon I have the same issues in my family and have blogged several times this week about my latest results. My kids all have it too so we are getting them on meds. I'm super focused about getting this weight off again. When it was lower a couple years ago my cholesterol was 180. Now it's 257. We can do this!

Wonderful results! Exercise and diet do help!! I would have been major concerned if I had the low reading and a risk factor like yours. And those relatives died at such a young age. You have done so well to get it into "Normal" range.
My family is also a heart attack family, but my levels are OK except for triglycerides, which I hope will have improved next time it's done. That's part of what motivated me to spark.
    Best wishes!! emoticon

    That is AWESOME!!!!

I got mine all down to healthy last year, except triglycerides. They were still too high, but not OFF the charts like they were two years prior. I am anxious to see how they look this Spring when I get my physical.

GREAT job.. your hard work is really paying off!! I'm very happy for you!!

My husband had a heart attack caused by a blood clot. We are so very lucky that the heart surgeon was able to perform a successful double bypass to correct the situation. His HDL, LDL, and trygliceride level were a little high, but not much. It is good to keep them in range, but please remember that there are other causes of heart attacks also.
