Great Day

Monday, January 23, 2012

I wasn't so sure how today was going to go. I woke up sore from my workout yesterday & wasn't sure if I could do any more today. But I took a couple Advil & the pain was gone. So first I tried some PS3 Sports Champion. I did a little bit of the fencing and some of the volleyball. I'm not sure how to track that so I didn't. But then I also did 25 minutes on the exercise bike. So not as crazy as yesterday but still good.

Yesterday I didn't eat quite right at the start of the day so I had to get creative at the end to achieve the balance I'm supposed to have with the nutrition tracker. I had quite a few calories & protein left towards the end of the day but no fat. So I ended up making a shake with some strawberries, bananas, fat-free greek yogurt, fat-free milk and a touch of agave. I wouldn't say it was fabulous but I did like it. But most importantly it got me to my goals. I had some left over so I had more for breakfast today. For some reason it didn't taste as good this morning & I still have some left that I plan to have tomorrow. Oh well. Guess I'll have to make smaller servings from now on.

This morning I also tried a new recipe. Yesterday I was thinking about oatmeal & how healthy it is for people. But the only way I like it is when is covered in butter & sugar. So how could I get myself to eat oatmeal without the bad stuff? Ponderous... Suddenly I had a thought. Oatmeal is a pretty neutral flavor so why doesn't anyone eat it with savory stuff in it? So I googled "savory oatmeal" & what do you know... some people DO eat savory oatmeal. It's not common but it is done. So of course I was drawn to the Sexed Up Savory Oatmeal. I wanna be sexy! LOL So this morning I tried it out. I was quite leery of it but it was actually okay. Sure it would have been better with more cheese or salt but I keep it healthy & tasty. But it's opened up a whole new world of oatmeal to explore. I'm loving how being on this "diet" & tracking my nutrition has forced me to be creative with what I eat!

And now with the healthy shake, healthy oatmeal, healthy lunch & healthy supper my nutrition today was right on track. And it leaves me with the perfect amount of room for a half-cup of frozen yogurt!

Wonderful use of the trackers and goals. In no time it will be natural for you to be within range of tracking goals every day! I still fall short of the protien mark too often....

    Keep up the great work!

Awesome job! It is amazing how just changing what you are eating can make such a difference and it doesn't take nearly as much work as you think it will. Have you purchased the SparkPeople cookbook? It's excellent! There are also a ton of recipes on the web site that are remade to be healthier and lower in calories.
