Hiking with Diabetes

Friday, January 20, 2012

I still have a lot to learn about Diabetes and keeping my blood sugar where it belongs. This weekend I'm going to hike for 3-4 hours up Mt. Monadnock. This will be my first big hike since I learned that I have Diabetes. It will be a little slower, since I'll be taking gloucose readings.
I'm really looking forward to a low reading. I have only eaten one orange since Jan. 3. When my blood sugar goes down, I can have this tasty morsel to bring it up.

Snowflakes are one of God’s most fragile creations, but just look at what they can do when they stick together. Snowflakes are amazing because they are unbiased. None of them are exactly the same, but when the conditions are right, they all stick together. Did you hear about the snowman that the town of Bethel Maine built? It was over 117 feet tall. They were able to make such a large snowman because they first designed a strong metal frame to pile the snow on. With a strong structure, Christ’s Church can become all that God intends us to be. What kind of conditions need to be in our church for all of US to stick together? We need to walk in the love of God. Ephesians 5:2 states, “walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us”. Let’s learn a lesson from the flakes. We’re much stronger together than we ever could be apart.
