My Mom

Friday, January 20, 2012

My mom is 75 and is a very awesome person. I learned my love of exercise and healthy eatinging from her. Good sound habits. Also I am learning smarter money management from her. Does she know I learned all of this from her - proabably not - and I should make sure to tell her. She is also very frustrating - she holds grudges, she says whats on her mind which can be very embarrasing, and is she stubborn?? Oh my yes!! But the bottom line is she is a good role modle that I can be proud of to call my mom and I need to learn to make more time in my life for her. A little hard since I am working both full time and part time, raising a son, caring for a house , a camp, and now my borthers estate, plus I have 4 other children that I like to spend time with a 2 grand daughters. But still - I need to find more time for her. Did I forget to mention a husband with a disability.\? Dear Lord - help me find the time to juggle it all!!

What a wonderful thing to be able to say about your mom! I'm sure she will appreciate hearing the words from you. You do have a busy life but I'm sure you'll find time to spend with her now that you've voiced the desire.

You're such a lovely person to dedicate such a sweet and thoughtful blog to your mom! It IS hard to find enough time for everyone who is important; it's a good thing you're a good multitasker... emoticon

Sounds like you could spend time with the older children and maybe the grandchildren by talking with them as they help you do maintenance around the places you manage. And your husband can enjoy time out with them, doing things or just visiting and sight-seeing.

Even once a year, with two, or one, and then another time during the year with another or two, will ease your burdens and let them gain some strengths from you as you did from you Mom.

My mom was really overbearing--found out it was because a sister had told lies about me--Mom and Dad didn't realize that a good 4+ years between children makes family sane and coordinated. Most not-so-neurotic cultures let the child have access to the breast for about 5 years, though after 3 years it is not even daily--just when the child is scared, extra tired, extra hungry, or such.

I nursed my last child three years, though he only wanted the breast as he went to bed, by that age, and only started back into fertility about two months after I stopped. However, I have a friend who was nursing two, not twins, and was pregnant! It did not work for her! It wore her out, to have all those kids that fast, with a husband who was hooked on pain killers and didn't keep a job, too. Honestly, religions need to respect womanhood as the Saviour does--with reality!!!!!!!!!

But I saw Mom's strengths and attached myself to the ones I could understand. I could have used a bit more input from her--I would not have gone so strictly in some of the strengths--they don't all serve me as fully as they did her because of circumstances and the people I am coordinating with. emoticon

And hire a maid for some of the work. I had a neighbor with two children. She also taught school. During the school months, she had a maid come clean her house every week. Nowadays, have a closet someplace that is locked-up so one doesn't need to concern one's self about favorite and private things.

emoticon Can you talk to her more on the phone and have a designated day every week where you get lunch with her? She sounds like a great mom and its sweet that you are thinking about how to spend time with her.
