Ya just never know

Today started out as a good day, and I still consider it so. Although I had a hard time getting to sleep, I did get about 6 hours before I got up, and when I go up, my back didn't feel too badly. I started out with about 5 minutes of PT stretches, and I got in 15 minutes yesterday! Wow. First time in nearly a year to do that much at a time.
Yesterday I volunteered at the one library, putting shelves in order, looking for books to repair, replace, etc. but I had a hard time making it through an hour of that, though I did complete a section, which is my goal to achieve when I go there. I also cut some things out for story time, which was tough because my hand numbness and pain kicked in, so I didn't do that too long. Then I put DVD's away, which is always interesting to see what libraries have in their collection for future borrowing. I volunteered for 2 hours, and it was hard to endure that little bit of time for my back. Last night I needed to use the TENS unit, where I didn't have to use it the night before even though I had physical therapy. I had borrowed a bunch of books, two fiction and a bunch on needle-felting. Great fun! I have 3/4 of one of the fiction books read. I even joined the library's winter reading program. It is funny being on the other side of that!
Today, I volunteered at the second library for 2.5 hours cataloging about 45 books! During the last 45 minutes, my lumbar area started to really hurt, even though I had been taking breaks and getting up and down a lot to stretch and walk it off. I even chose some books and movies to borrow. I went right to physical therapy from there, and going on the Nu-step machine for 7 minutes helped to get my back feeling better and I rolled through all the exercises pretty well without any pain! That was definitely a first! While I was there, I approached the manager and asked if there was any light duty work. She looked me in the eye and said "maybe." She was the therapist that worked on my when I first started going back in 2009 after my fall on the ice. She asked me to bring my resume next time. Ya just never know!
As for my gym membership - I still need to find one. There do not seem to be any that have pools, so I will choose one of two that are nearby. The choice: the one I applied for a job at (and almost got) that is a little further away, or the one that is about a mile from my home. Choices, choices, decisions, decisions.
I still have not been able to get the elbow brace for the cubital tunnel syndrome. I couldn't get it at PT, or the dr's office, or the local medical supply place, so I will wait til I got back to the other orthopedic dr. I am being sent to check it out next Tuesday.
Now, it's time to unwind, read, watch tv, play games, and just chill with a warm cat. That sounds funny, doesn't it? That's one cool cat!
