Trying to Get My Mojo Back

I have been in the funkiest mood lately. I know this change in my mood has been a direct result of me losing my weight loss mojo. I recommitted myself to my weight loss journey on October 4, 2011, and since then, I've lost around 22lbs. However, my efforts have been derailed since the holidays. I had family in town for two weeks, which created a lot of work that threw my workout regimen off. Since then, I have not been able to recover. Then on January 5th, I started a new semester of school. I am taking 4 classes, two of which are very demanding and time-consuming, so that has further derailed my efforts. I just can't seem to get my feet back on the ground. In addition to all of this, I have not been making the best food choices. I have even slipped a soda or two in here and there. I tell ya, it's driving me nuts!!!

I started the year off by joining several weight loss challenges on Spark People. I'm not sure if that was such a good idea since I am already somewhat overwhelmed with all the other things I have going on. I am going to stick with them, because I like to finish what I start. I have just got to get back on track with my workouts. I will be working ahead in my classes this weekend so that I can return to the gym next week. When I find myself pressed for time, I will try to hop on SP and atleast complete one of the 10-minute workouts. I realized a while back that something is better than nothing. I just have to figure out how to work myself through these funks and get back on track.

    I had a similiar thing going on. I had to treat the new year like I was starting all the way over again. I started making small changes like drinking the water and getting in a little exercise everyday and I built from there. By the end of week two I found my sweet spot and got back with my regular program. You will do just fine! You already know how to lick this thing! 22 pounds off is amazing! You can and WILL do it! emoticon

    You have got this girl!! You are already taking care of yourself by getting an education!! That is wonderful!! Loosing your MOJO, Nawwwhhh you really have not you just moved it to other sources...Don't give up on yourself!! You matter and loosing 22 pounds!! That is AWESOME!! A Victory!! Some great idea's up above about working out and still getting in some study time, also planning your meals,...It works!! You matter, your health and you feeling good about yourself are Key ingredients to finding your MOJO and also to being a success!! I think it is great that you joined several Sparks groups too!! Support is another key ingredient to finding your MOJO, we have all lost our "juice" we are here for you!!! Keep on Crushing!!!

    I noticed that for me when life gets busy, I tend to eat out more. Although okay once in a while, generally it is harder to make good food choices eating out.

    A strategy that I am working on is food planning. Having a menu for the week and preparing ahead of time for days that I know will be challenging has really helped. It has been really useful to not have to think about meals when I am in a hurry or tired as I have already planned it out. It has also freed up some extra time during the day that previously I would have spent trying to figure out meals for the day.

    Don't give up. With everything you have going on, you're really going to need that workout time to relieve some stress no matter how long or short.

    Often when your life situation changes you just have to find sometime and put the things you want to do into writing - like how to schedule workout, homework and everything else into your day. Once you have your new schedule then its time to execute it.

    I know classes can be tough and throw off your workouts. Try recording your notes so you can listen to them while you walk. This way you can study and workout at the same time. I also used to try to read some of my books while walking on the treadmill or riding a stationary bike.

    Don't give up. Workouts can help you relax and that will help relieve stress. Take a deep breath an realize that you CAN do this.

    Don't give up! You have a foundation that you can build upon. Just think that exercise, be it a brisk walk, or time in the gym is a chance for you to recharge your batteries and BURN off some STRESS and CALORIES! You can do it!
