My program

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

This started out titled "my wii and me", but that title just doesn't fit.

My wii is my best non-human friend. I weigh myself every morning and then try to do between 15 minutes and a half hour of yoga emoticonand exercise emoticon. My favorite is the Obstacle course, which is sure to start me sweating. I've a 15 minute yoga routine, with my personal coach Swen. Every once in a while, Susie shows up to guide me instead.

Now I know those of you who go to a gym and use high-powered equipment are poo-pooing the value of the wii, but consider this: I am 65 years old with asthma, RA, spinal stenosis, Kidney and blood level issues! My mom (bless her heart - almost 90 and still with me) was s skinny witch, who never had to watch her weight and never, ever exercised. Well, she's paying for it now. She cannot lift her arms above shoulder level, she needs to use a walker, and she can no longer take care of herself. In a twisted way she is my inspiration. I make sure I do balance exercises, yoga and aerobics - even if "just on my win".

I'm now at my proper BI and weight, having lost 30 pounds since March. I follow a Paleo/archevoir diet and love it. Ironically my once vegan son turned me on to it. I'm never hungry and I don't have to weigh, measure, or keep track of calories. I don't miss bread, pasta or sugar. I found a wonderful substitution for my ice cream craving: the Yonana machine which makes a fantastic frozen banana treat. I am not a fanatic and will stray from the program for a special occasion -and my weight has not increased. For the first time I did not gain weight over the holidays.

I know many of you feel the Paleo life-style is weird or strange, but it works for me.

Have a great day.

I've been considering a Wii because of the great exercise programs available, so your comment interested me. I have a vegan daughter, a gluten-free daughter, an absolutely nothing seafood daughter and a meat-eating son. Holiday dinners are an adventure!

Good for you! I will look up the Paleo life-style since I have never heard of it....your blog was encouraging to me. It reminds me that each of us has to find what works for own program and not trying to work myself to death just because the program works for other people.

    Have a great day!!!!

I agree with you totally! It works and after a while you won't miss the sugar, grains, dairy...oh yeah pasta. That's what spaghetti squash is for, right?
