A drive in the mountains, a new car, and new cat

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

So, I've been without a car since the accident, but finally got a new (used car) last week. It's a nice Toyota Corolla. I even took it up in the mountains driving on Sat. I had to prove to myself and my family that I could do it, and I did! My car wreck happened in the mountains in Aug. When I basically lost my brakes and drove a Jeep down a 15 foot cliff and ended up in a creek. I was over using the brakes that day. That was a scary day! I love the mountains too much to let a car accident keep me away from them, although I admit it was a bit scary at first, but not as much as I had imagined!
Anyway, still in PT. My shoulder and neck are still bothering me, and my last day of PT is next week, so my therapist told me today that he thought it would be a good idea, if I wanted, to get monthly check ins with him for the next 3 months, just to make sure I continue to heal ok. He told me I'm a slow healer, and probably just need a few more months then most people. He thinks I have an impinged shoulder, but that it will probably get better with the exercises and stretches I have in my home program, but if it doesn't get better in the next 3 months we'll need to figure something else out, go to a specialist, etc. Hopefully I just continue to heal more every month. I'm glad he's going to be keeping in touch with me for a while.
Still looking for a job, but not too worried about that yet. I'm sure I'll find one soon. I can always substitute teach if need be. I also am going to go back to school.
We adopted a new cat on Sat. too, from the pound and we picked her up from the vets today. Our other cat isn't sure about her yet, but he needed a playmate. That is the main reason we got her. I'll post pics of her soon. She's very pretty, a chocolate siamese.
We finally got a dusting of snow the other night and more storms are coming this week! Yay! We've been scary dry this year!
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

I have a cat and so happy you now have one too. They are so loving.

Good luck with your PT. I went for three months last year for my shoulder. It is hard work but definitely worth it.
