Starting over ... AGAIN

Frustrating few days. Not hungry but feeling the pull of food. The food won. It's been a tough day, trying not to overdo again. Found the three pounds I lost and I start all over ... AGAIN.

I'm so tired of starting over and over and over...

Praying alot, trying to stay busy and the weather is beautiful so I went for a walk in the park. This is a never ending battle. Ended the week where I started out. UGH!

    As LITTLEBO said, sometimes we have to do more than just fight valiantly. We have to try to track down why the food has such a pull. We have to strategize ways to deal with the pull at a time when we aren't in the middle of the struggle. We have to create alternatives - other things to do, other things to eat, other ways to approach emotions and situations.

    Most important? We have to refuse to surrender. We can find ourselves retreating, losing ground, but as long as we don't surrender, we have a fighting chance. Sometimes we have to just work on doing better than before. If it was a binge that cleaned out two cartons of ice cream, try to make it just one carton next time, only half a carton the time after that, and a serving of ice cream the next. Take your victories where you can get them.

    Yeah, the discouragement factor can feel huge but I gotta tell you it is worth it to start over and explore what your vulnerability was that the food got hold of you. Every time you think you failed you actually learned. Move forward - two steps forward! And line up some things to try to get on top of the urges! It is doable. Maybe make a promise to yourself to try at least three new ways to distract yourself from the food!

    Maybe you can reflect on why the food was pulling you? Were you bored, tired, angry. Was something else going on?

    I know it is frustrating to keep "startign over". Been there, done that...not fun.

    I am right there with you. Even though I was sick, I gained a pound! So this week, I will be back exercising & trying to make healthier food choices. All we can do is keep trying to move forward. Sooner or later, the good will outweigh the bad habits! Good luck!
