Freaking Headwind

So in training for the half marathon, today's run was scheduled to be 8 miles. Next week we bump up to 10. I have to be honest. I'm a little nervous about that. The jump from 6 to 8 didn't bother me, but I'm not sure about next week's jump. I know, I know- It'll be fine. This is what we're conditioning our bodies to do.
I was pleased with my run today. I ran 8.5 miles and only 3 minutes slower than last week's flat 8 mile run. So my time is improving.
My gripe- The headwind was killing me. All the way back in, for 4.25 miles, the wind was fierce and in my face. The good news is at 42 degrees and a strong headwind the sweating is down.

On the funny side... There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING attractive about running!!! I mean I'm dressed like a rodeo clown. My face is red. On days like today, the nose runs. At times, I'm gasping like a fish out of water. Then when I finish a long run, I walk funny the rest of the day. emoticon

    Yes we don't look our best when running LOL! Headwinds can really be a killer but you probably burned more calories that way LOl!

    Hey, I'm not laughing! I bow to you--training for a half marathon? I can't even run a full mile--not even with a TAILwind-- so I sure wouldn't be laughing at how you get 8+ done!
