i have that dvd. my neighbor and i watched it at her house and then she gave a copy to me for christmas. i have a friend who is a real disciple of his and she goes to many many clinics. she is the only certified horse behaviour consultant, i think, in canada. we are so lucky to have access to her. i took a clinic with her and look forward to doing it again. i would love to see buck, but, i don't think i can afford that. 2730 days ago
This is an absolutely amazing movie! We saw it last year at the Fort Worth Museum of art. I felt so sorry for what Buck went through as a child...... Would LOVE to meet him, too. I also now own the DVD, got it from my trainer who uses a lot of the same methods, he is trying to teach me, now!
I just can't say enough good things about the man and the way he deals with horses AND people! 3184 days ago
I did get the video and the book - Faraway Horses - which covers the movie. I haven't finished the book yet, but is it ever good!!! I also got the book - Believe - which I haven't started yet. He is just such an awesome human being, I would love to meet him some day. 3185 days ago
I saw it in a theater last year. Very cool and very well done. It did a good job of conveying his backstory and giving a feel for what he does now. I liked how it balanced his history with how he's raising his daughter. The DVD was pretty cheap on Amazon before Christmas, so I bought my parents a copy. I've heard it's running pretty consistently on Showtime now.
I've heard it's given his clinics quite a boost. He's always had a devoted following, but now it's pretty much impossible to get a riding spot and even auditing spots are pretty full. 3185 days ago
I have it. Knowing it was a documentary, I put it in the other night (kind of late) thinking I'd watch some that night and the rest the next ... but I couldn't turn it off. He is amazing! I love how he deals with the horse's owners as well as the horses; he isn't mean at all but he tells them exactly what he thinks.
This sounds amazing! SP seems to have dropped my subscription to your blog so I came across it just now. I'll have to see if I can find it on Amazon ... or eBay ... between those sites I tend to find pretty much anything.
TX, oh I would love to have a copy of it. If you ever see it for sale, let me know. I guess I would have to google it. LOL LITTLE, you are so lucky to have seen him in person!!!! I am so jealous!!! That just had to be so cool!! Buck is old style because he is one of the originals . 3237 days ago
Buck has been up in our area many times. he is very much old style and very horse savvy.. i Remember the first time i audited one of his clinics. the first thing he did was have all the horse released into the areana at liberty and then he would slowly move them. very fasinating, by watching them it told him about each's personality and where they are in the herd. their was one horse that wouldn't run with the herd, his reply was, that horse didn't Know he was a horse. Very interesting and this was long before i found Parelli. i found the movie interesting, the stud who attact and its owner were crazy. can you imagine. she created him and it so sad he has to pay for it. I wonder what the rest of her studs were like. I love his response to her LOL. 3237 days ago
Yes! I HAVE seen it and agree! It was awesome! I have a copy of it out on DVD that I won at our clinic (with our trainer) We watched it again, it is so good. I had never heard of him before this movie. I wonder why not? Wasn't that something about that horse that attacked his assistant? 3237 days ago
