Starting Out

I love to cook & bake and I think that gets me into a bit of trouble especially as I love baking cakes & cookies. But I searched the internet for healthy recipes today. I tried to stay away from as much dessert recipes as possible. I have 2 soup recipes already that I love and are healthy but I need variety! So I found 6 more healthy recipes to try out (mostly more soup). I do hope they're tasty. I did find one not so healthy recipe that I'm going to try too but its for homemade coffee creamer & I think it'll be healthier than the stuff I buy now. Little steps, right? Maybe someday I'll even give up the coffee. So after finding these recipes my hubby & I went grocery shopping. I bought all the ingredients I needed to try out the new recipes. I also had to talk my husband out of an industrial sized can of tapioca & convinced him to buy a gallon of frozen yogurt instead of ice cream. We didn't buy any chips, cookies, soda, or any junk food. Unfortunately we usually don't and we're still heavier than we'd like. Guess I need to start thinking about fitness too. (Yuck! Especially in winter!) I also talked him into signing up for Sparkpeople though if he actually ever touches it is another story.

    I would love to get an Xbox or Wii. I think I would love the dance games. I actually have the Kinetics exercise game for the PS2 with eyetoy and that would be a really fun if I could get the eyetoy to see me right. I think there's a lighting problem because it works great at my nephews house.

    I'm really trying to incorporate more water but I just don't like it. Kwik Trip's Nature Touch Watermelon water is pretty good though & so I've been buying 12 packs there. I've only been managing to drink two bottles a day though which is only 5 glasses. And I don't always managed to finish both bottles. And I don't drink much of anything else during the day except a cup of coffee. So it's definitely something I need to work on.

    I'll have to look into some more Spark teams & see what I can find!

    I don't know of anyone who is in love with exercising, at least at the beginning of the journey. I've been at this for almost two years (will be 2 yrs. in February) and don't LOVE exercise, but LOVE what it does for me, so there you go ... it's a means to an end.

    Getting your husband to join SP! Wow! My hubby won't touch it!

    I didn't like fitness either - inside or outside! But we were able to get an XBox360 for a great price on Black Friday - and finally this week (way too busy for December!) got it up and going for games - (with the Kinect camera) and wow! does it get us moving! Inside! and fun! :-) Don't know if that or Wii are options for you, but it has helped us. The first day my hubby didn't join me, but today he did... so... I'll take it! :-)

    May I suggest? . . . find a team that's really active and get involved daily. Track your food. Drink water. Use all the great tools here on SP!
