Wash Day Quilt!

Monday, January 09, 2012

One of my goals for the year is to make a quilt top a month in time for my guild meetings. Fortunately, I'm off to a great start, as I had a 4 day vacation that allowed such time off...

Last year, one of the three (3!) quilts I made was a pink and brown Chattanooga Choo-Choo quilt for Dot for her 2nd birthday. Granted her birthday is in November and I got around to giving it to her this past September, but still, I did make it for her. And she loves it. Just as I pictured she would. She doesn't carry it around everywhere, but she does sleep every night with it and smooths it out on her bed as we make the bed in the morning.

So when I pictured her snuggling and sleeping with the darn thing, I forgot to picture what happened when I had the audacity to put the darn thing IN THE WASH! The weeping and wailing! The Horror! And no matter how we tried to explain that Quilt needed a bath, she would start kicking the washing machine and yelling at it, "Gibe it BACK! GIBE IT BAAAACK!!!" Ah, I love wash day.

This is her substitute quilt for snuggling on the sofa with Barney for when I run upstairs and grab her quilt to wash without her seeing... Note: I finished this at Midnight last night, so this is what I HOPE will happen rather than actually happened...
