Hope I said the right thing...

My family went to the gym today after church. I decided I was going to try and jog 3 miles. I haven't done that since...last summer, at least. So, I am running on the track and I pass this very large man who is walking laps. Each time I pass him, I keep thinking how impressed and inspired I am by him. He was making good time, for his size, and had a serious sweat on. I kept wondering what he was thinking. Was he proud of himself, or thinking that everyone was judging him?
So, I decided I was going to tell him how inspired I was by him. And I did. I hope he took it in the manner in which it was intended. After he finished walking, he went down and swam some laps in the pool. If that guy can push himself that hard, then so can I!
Here's what I said, I think: "I hope this doesn't sound wrong, but I am so impressed by you. Every time I pass by you on the track, I'm impressed. You are awesome!" And off I jogged. What do you think? Was I OK saying that? Do you think he took it in the way I intended? I certainly hope so.
