We go every year to Sun Valley, Idaho for New Year's with Randy's family. His parents live up there half the year and always spend the holidays up there. I love the place. I love Idaho (we got married there, in a field covered with wild flowers) and it's fun to get away from everything and be with his family and whichever of our kids can make it. It's always different and there's tons of things to do if you like winter sports. I got sick though, with a sinus infection (felt more like strep to me, but what do I know?) and so I was not as perky as usual. I was so sick I went to the ER (they don't have Urgent Care). They gave me meds but I still felt lousy most of the time we were there. I was so mad about that! I am in Winter Wonderland and all I want to do is sleep. Of course, I did manage to have some fun and it was really nice to see everyone together. And Randy's folks are just sweethearts.
My son Adam and I cross country skiing. He took to it, I didn't.
Here's Randy. He really enjoyed the XC skiing.
The Kahle Family, my in-laws, they are lovely people. It's middle son Charlie, eldest son Randy, Randy's dad Loren, Randy's mom Betty, and the youngest, Jim.
Here's my part of the crew standing at Galena Pass. Randy, my eldest Amy, her boyfriend Simon, and my youngest Adam. Sadly, neither of Randy's kids nor my middle two made it this year.
Adam wanted to XC ski again so we took Amy and Simon and they did that while Randy and I snowshoed. Yes, Amy is wearing shorts. She's kooky like that! And she lives in Alaska.
That'd be me, happy as a clam that I am NOT XC skiing! And that I've got Randy alone.
See? It was just us and beautiful day and I was finally feeling better too.
The last day we were there Randy and I headed out to snowshoe along the river, through the woods. It was dim and cold but fun. We came to the spot where the other people had turned around and there was no more tramped down snow. So what did we do? We did what any Sparker would do, see next picture!
We kept going!
He he, I can see by this picture I still need to lose a bit more in the caboose!
