2012: Week 1 in Review

Decided to use emoticons as a key for the success of meeting goals this week. Of course, after a year of change on SP, I am now among the many that believe in moderation and progress rather than perfection. That being said, I am well pleased with the progress made this week. The items that are marked with the emoticon emoticon were FULLY met this first week of 2012. Hope everyone who reads this had as successful and productive week as I.

Nutrition: eat within calorie limit emoticon, stay within range on p/c/f (protein/carbs/fats) emoticon, drink 8 glasses of water emoticon, 3-5 servings of fruits and veggies (daily) emoticon.

I was able to stay within calorie range and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. This week I did struggle finding the p/c/f balance. I was in range on carbs all week (awesome given that being diagnosed with diabetes was what brought me here)! Not as lucky with fats or proteins. Re fats, my range is 42-53, this week I was over range on three days and averaged 56.6 fats per day! Re proteins, my range is 63-80, this week I was over protein limits 3 days and averaged 72.4 protein per day! My bad, as I was calculating fats and proteins I realized that there was one day this week that I was LOW on carbs! I was largely successful in the fruits and veggies department, exception being Thursday when I only ate one serving.


Fitness: walk/run a minimum of one mile (daily) emoticon, modified 5FF for strength/resistance (5x week). emoticon

I was able to walk 6 days this week. The one day I did not "go walking" I spent 6 hours moving . I walked a total of 13.3 miles for an average of 1.9 miles a day. I did have to make myself go walking to get with my fitness program. I was not as successful in the strength training arena. By Wednesday I realized that the strength training etc was just not happening this week. As an encouragement for myself I opted to join the January Jump Start Challenge. My intent is to begin using the action steps for that challenge today. After a full day of moving I am ready for a less strenuous form of strength training!!!

Consistency in devotions and Scripture have provided a major encouragement and provided the right frame of mind for success! I was on target all week.

Accountability: Participate in Just Do It Team Challenge, blog twice regarding progress (2x week). emoticon

This is my second blog for the week, I have yet to go to bed on Saturday night, and it is still Saturday in at least three time zones in the United States!!!

In addition to meeting most of the goals that I had set for myself this week, I also spent time checking in on all of my Spark Friends this week. I used the friend look up tracker https://sparkpeo.hs.llnwd.net/e1/fri
end_lookup.asp to make sure I had befriended everyone who was gracious enough to have friended me. I then proceeded to deliver spark goodies, comments on blogs,and comments on Sparkpages to encourage my friends in their journeys!
