Friday Check-in

Time for the Friday check-in. I figure I should write at least 1 fitness related blog posts each week, and since Fridays are my day off they make a great no excuses blogging day.

Here's where I am on my goals:

I haven't run anything yet. Not even around the block because of this rib. The doctor did give me the go-ahead to try walking briskly to see if that hurts. If I can do that for a few days without pain, then I can graduate to trying to jog again.

-Bikini wearing
Bikinis require less flab and more definition. I'm not allowed to lift anything heavier than a pound right now. Seriously, a pound. And I have to avoid twisting and bending at the waist. Makes working (and working out) very difficult. So I'm really not attempting to meet this goal yet. Once my rib heals - watch out!

-Healthy BMI
I weighed in this morning and found that I'd lost 2.5 pounds! I'm pretty sure it's just water weight since the only thing I've really done differently is stop eating all the junk food that's available at work.

-Cut out white grains, white rice, and sugar
Still working on that one. It's like my brain doesn't want to recognize the white stuff until after it ends up in my belly. So I'll keep working on it, starting today.

-Eating real food
Some meals are great! Like tonight I'm making chicken tagine in my slow cooker. But other meals are bad like the hot pocket I ate out of desperation at work yesterday. Still working on it, but it's definitely getting better.

-Cook one new recipe each week
So far so good. My new recipe this week is chicken tagine. I hope it's good because 6 people will be eating it and we don't have anything else to cook.

And of course there are the non-health and fitness related goals. I haven't really gotten started on those yet. Well... I take that back. I've got a plan for getting Project+ certified, learning web development technologies, and becoming fluent in Spanish. Buying a house will take a bit more saving before I can get my husband on board. I swear the man panics when I mention spending anything more than $200 on something. And I have a couple of quilting projects lined up for the next two months. Once I can bend, twist, and lift more than a pound I'll be good to go, especially since one is almost done and the other just needs to be basted and quilted.

I'm still thinking about my prizes... I'll keep thinking. I need to write them down (or find pictures) so that I can see what my bribe is. That's just the way my brain works. I need a tangible object to work towards or the goals will never be met.
