2012 goals and battling snacking at night

I was HUNGRY last night around 8pm. Like actual I feel it in my tummy hungry. I waited another 20 minutes just to make sure a cup of tea wouldn't satisfy me but nope, still a little grumble in my tummy. I then had a snack.
I try really hard not to snack after dinner as it seems to be a never ending snack at that time of night. I go from one thing to the next with very little regard for my actual appetite. But last night I was hungry so I had one cup of Kashi go lean cereal (no milk). I really like eating it that way as it kinda substitutes for chips as it's "snacky" and crunchy.
Still under calories for the day AND that's all I had. No extra snacks, no 'well I already had one, might as well keep going". One snack and that was it.
I'm feeling good these days - better than I have in a long time. I seem to have a lot more energy and I'm less stressed in general. AND my love of running is back. I'm actually giddy that I will be running tonight :) 5 KM is on the books on the dreadmill.
Here are some of 2012 goals:
1. Be more financially responsible. This means to think about what I'm spending money on instead of just spending! No more instant gratification. I need to really think about what I'm spending on and whether I truly want and NEED something.
2. Stress less about the little things - why worry about the potential downfalls. Better to save the worry for actual happenings right? I tend to make myself sick with stress about the what ifs and it's just not worth it. I'm trying hard to take more deep breaths and think about whether stressing will help the situation. Just say no to unnecessary stress!
3. Run more - plain and simple. No goals for pace, distance, quantity of runs. It's all about running. I run because I LOVE the runner's high and I am a much more relaxed person when I run.
4. Appreciate people more - from my honey, to my kid, to my friends and family. I should appreciate every moment with them
5. To be more present in my life. What do I mean? I want to be in the moment - no multitasking while spending family time. It's about being in the moment and appreciating each moment for what they are.
6. cook more. I have always wanted to be a good cook. So why not learn? Just because I'm 32 doesn't mean I have to be a bad cook forever. I need to also trust myself in the kitchen more because when I do cook it's usually pretty good or at least ok. I've never made anything awful. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
7. Treat food as fuel and not as a treat.
so yah, those are what I'm choosing to work on for the next year. No grand proclamations about how much weight to lose etc. I already know I'm healthier and stronger than I was this time last year - how about I aim to feel the same way next January?
