A&I Jan 2012 Goal Blog

Sunday, January 01, 2012

I typed my goals into Cozi and can't copy/paste them so I pic'd them ... hopefully the picture will come out here.

One explanation I think is in order... I have on my list to brush my teeth every day that's an "even" number... yes this means every other day. I read an article once that said that modern tooth brushing was detremental to teeth, (after researching and finding substanciating articles) and because I HAVE REALLY GOOD TEETH GENES I decided to experiment. Lo and behold, my dental visits have been even BETTER not brushing my teeth daily! This is NOT likely to be okay for everyone because like I said I have really good dental genes. It obviously is also not recommended by dentists! But, since it is working for me, that's what I'm doing! I do floss regularly and rinse my mouth out and note I do not drink a lot of soda or eat sugary or acidic stuff so that undoubtedly has something to do with it as well.

Also, some folks might look at my list and go... uh, yeah, not exactly pushing yourself there! That is because I'm coming out of a nearly year long depression that I keep having little slide backs (like over the holidays) in to and am dealing with fibromyalgia and back issues as well as a low immune system, hypothyroidism and other issues that make long lasting or heavy handed action impracticle for me. Baby steps are the best way for me to advance both physically and mentally/psychologically.

OOPS!! I forgot to put my stress reliever/me time/balancing goal on here! I am also planning to spend at least 10 minutes every day meditating in some manner :)

You've done a reasonable list of goals. And may I add, I especially appreciate your "stress reliever - me time" goal. What a difference it makes when I remember to take time for myself. Looks like you are off to a great start. emoticon

Wow! These are fantastic goals! I am also starting to explore meditation...great way to relieve stress!

I find that when I walk outside, I meditate without even thinking about it. I need to do that more! Good for the body AND the soul!

emoticon blog Lou. The goals are for you so you shouldn't have to explain them to anyone else. I think baby steps is a emoticon way for you to achieve your goals. I pray you are able to stay focused and achieve each of your goals. Depression is a nasty critter so I will add you to my prayer list. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Don't worry about what others think. They are your goals and important to you. Good luck with reaching them this month.

I like your goals list and think you can certainly accomplish them all.
I dealt with depression the last year I worked so I know how debilitating it can be. There were some days that I would sit in my car in the parking lot and cry because I didn't want to be there. It soon affected all areas of my life. I did talk to my doctor and she prescribed a mild medication that helped. I took my last one the day I retired and have been relatively "okay" since. It's important that we are in tune with ourselves, both mentally and physically, and can recognize when the "darkness" is looming in our future. There have been a few rough times for me but I've been able to pull myself out through my friends and exercise.
Let's stay strong and determined to make 2012 our best year ever!

I think these are great goals! You are making them fit your life and that's very important in order for you to be successful! I think I will add mediation to my goals for next month, once I get my 10 minute fitness streak going!

I am sure you will have a great January and will reach the goals you set for yourself! emoticon
