Hi guys! I hope you all had a great Christmas! I haven't blogged in a while and I'm sorry I haven't been a very supportive spark friend lately either. I DO log in and read the friend feed every day and "like" the crap out of everything but that has been pretty much it. As soon as I found out I got accepted to the nursing program in November, it's been crazy! I had 3 weeks of studying for the TEAS exam, then the holidays came rolling around. My first day of class is Jan. 17! emoticon So far, I got the physical, drug test and immunizations out of the way. Next up is cleaning out my office so I have a study space, CPR and spending a bunch of money on books, registration fees, scrubs, and a stethoscope. Sheesh this stuff is not cheap!

As of a couple of days ago I was up 3 pounds and honestly, I wasn't too upset b/c I thought it'd be much worse. I haven't been really on track for a couple of months now. Apparently for the most part, I do really well for breakfast and lunch. It's dinner time and night snack attacks that get me! Anyways... this morning I decided to do something a little different. Instead of oatmeal and fruit, I decided to try a protein smoothie. I bought some SunWarrior protein powder from Open Sky a while back and haven't been using it. I don't believe in the high protein/low carb thing but I do know that because of my mostly vegan diet, I often fall short on protein according to my nutrition feedback reports and the days that I try to have more protein, I DO feel full longer. I was happy to find out that it holds me over well until lunch. I'm glad, because I have a feeling I'll be having this for breakfast quite a bit once I start the nursing program. I have 7:30 am classes 2 days a week and 6:30 am clinicals 2 days a week. I am not a morning person so lord help me!! emoticon

So far today, I am right on track. I reached for the box of chocolates then immediately snapped my arm back towards my body and thought "You've had plenty of sweets over the holidays and enjoyed every bite. Mmmmm weren't those home made sugar cookies the best? You don't really need any today." Guess what? It worked! Now the hard part is yet to come. 5pm onwards is really hard for me but I'm determined to have a successful day even if I have to white knuckle it, I will do it gosh darn it! emoticon If I can just get one good day under my belt, it will make the next one that much easier! Wish me luck!

I'm so happy for you - going back to school. Very exciting! Best wishes to you.

I think the same thing all the time - if I could just get one good day under my belt the next day will be a little easier & then I can start a streak!

I love that! It's so perfect, I might want to write it down! I'm glad today worked well for you. I made it within calories too, but just barely. I was at 1200 WITH wine and Godiva, but then my hubby sprang a 'game night' at someone else's house on me at the last minute. All those snacks within reach...almost didn't make it!
Great job today, Kimberly. We still have a few days left of the year; I think we can finish strong!

Lots of good thoughts for success coming your way.
You can do it. From here it sounds like you have a plan.. and that is an awesome start.

Smoothies and the extra protein should be REALLY GOOD for someone who is not a morning person.
