New Year Revolution!

Thursday, December 29, 2011

I haven't posted anything for a while because life has been a little busy and sometimes overwhelming. And not so overwhelming that I've gotten completely off track, but I have gotten "side tracked". Not tracking my food as carefully, not getting in enough fitness minutes, but still staying active and just coping with the bumps and curves in this journey called life and I still managed to lose 2#. Its a journey with up and downs and high and lows, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love my life - warts and all!

This has been a growing year for me and my family. We've had triumphs and we've had trials and we've learned some lessons that only experience can teach. In the past I've made New Year's Resolutions and they were quickly pushed aside as I moved through life. Well for the past three years I haven't made any New Year's Resolutions instead choosing to make daily strides toward living my best life. Make every day the best day of my life. Each day I awake with a prayer on my lips and a song in my heart. Some days its a prayer of total praise and thanksgiving and my song is uplifting and others its a prayer of "Lord help me!". Thank God those days are fewer and less desperate. I choose to live in the attitude of gratitude and seeing the good in most situations. Do I get it right all the time? No and I've learned that that is ok too. I am thankful for another day to try again.

I have so much to be thankful for - my God, my wonderful and supportive husband, my healthy children, my completely adorable grandson - Vaughn, Jr. "Squeezie" and the impending birth of my granddaughter - Erin "Squishy", my extended family, my friends, my improved health, my sanity (ok that may be a little questionable LOL), my home and I could go on and on.

In 2012 I'm going to do something a little different - I am having a REVOLUTION - I am putting aside all the doubts and fears that have held me back and stopped me from achieving my goals. I am revolting against that little voice that tells me "you can't do that", "you aren't worthy of this", "its too hard - just give up", "Oh you blew it AGAIN, so just stop trying". I am replacing it with the LOUD voice telling me that "You can do ALL things through Christ", "You are worthy because you are God's masterpiece", "God isn't finished with me yet". I am also replacing my doubt with prayers for guidance and stopping to listen for that divine guidance.

My good friend Claire posted this on Facebook and I liked it so much I thought I'd share it as tips for 2012. I am going to incorporate this as part of my REVOLUTION for 2012 ...

12 Days of Weight Loss:

Day 1. Say nothing critical to any person for any reason all day.

Day 2. Say something nice to someone randomly and repeat Day 1.

Day 3. Do something nice for someone randomly and repeat Days 1 & 2.

Day 4. Write someone a nice note and repeat Days 1 thru 3.

Day 5. Throw away or donate one item of clothing you do not wear anymore.

Day 6. Give a homeless person $1 and repeat Day 1.

Day 7. Call (not text) a friend and talk for at least 5 minutes and repeat Day 2.

Day 8. Do 5 jumping jacks and repeat Day 3.

Day 9. Walk around for 5 minutes non-stop and repeat Day 4.

Day 10. Drink one extra glass of water and repeat Day 5.

Day 11. Eliminate one snack from your day and repeat Day 6.

Day 12. Add one fruit or vegetable to your diet and repeat Day 8.

Repeat for 12 more days. Then repeat another 12 days. Cycle this every 12 days and with each cycle increase the walking in Day 9 by 5 minutes.

Research shows that improving your health and life consists not only of dietary changes but social changes as well. Try this for 12 days, then 12 more. What do you have to lose but maybe a pound or two and you'll gain so much more ...

So I am challenging all my SparkFriends to have a fantastic 2012 and to keep the faith on this journey called life and enjoy the journey. Keep Sparking! Love ya!

Love the idea of The New Year's Revolution. I also like some of the ideas in the 12 day cycles. Maybe I'll make it 17 days to go along with the 17 day diet. I'll bring it up to my group.

emoticon for the idea and thanks for sharing.
